Social & Infrastructure Projects
Under the North Caspian Sea PSA, NCOC allocates a budget each year for development of social infrastructure projects. In 2022 this budget amounted to $21.7 million.
In the period from 1998 to 2022, 226 social infrastructure projects have been completed.
Thus, cumulative spend on social infrastructure projects has reached US$863 million.
Social infrastructure projects are generally proposed by the Oblast Akimats (governments). Proposals are reviewed by NCOC and the PSA Authority to ensure they comply with PSA requirements and the Operator’s sustainable development strategy and are developed into projects in close collaboration with the Oblast Akimats. The funds for construction of schools, kindergartens, hospitals, sport facilities, as well as utilities such as roads, electric power and water supply lines, and other infrastructure for the local communities are split equally between Atyrau and Mangystau oblasts, the areas of the main operations under the North Caspian Project activities.
